The possible diseases are to numerous to count. Install a 6"-8" flex connector and leave it hooked up. It's an RV, something else is gonna break first anyway.

Anytime you flush your tanks, it should be at a designated dump station or sewer connection at a campground, RV park, rest stop, etc. Never dump on the ground where ground water may lead to rivers, streams, lakes or the ocean. This enables us to flush for a few minutes to stir things up before heading for the dumps station.
Yes if you have a flusher to hook up to then you can clean the tank by hooking up to that port, IF you have the flusher and are using the RV allot I would say monthly would be a good rule. Eureka, put one of these on the black tank, one on the gray tank. Mounted the hose connections (put quick connects on them) right next to the tank valves. Pull the black handle...while emptying, attach hose to the black Tornado connector, turn on, flush until clear...about 3 minutes. Repeat for the gray tank and we're outta there.
